Of their current lineup, there are four BMW models that are the best in their class, or an exceptional value.

The 3 Series (this generation or last)
If you can live with not having the latest and greatest BMW on the block, the previous generation 3 Series is a great choice for a compact luxury sedan. The new G20 generation is just coming on the market, but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to find a deal like the ones dealerships are offering on the 2012-released F30 generation. With great interior materials, exciting driving dynamics and top of the class fuel economy, the 3 Series is an exciting and smart choice for someone looking for a small sport sedan.
The 5 Series
Recent changes to the BMW 5 Series have changed non-M Sport models focus. In newer generations, sportiness and handling have taken a back seat to technology and comfort, things the Mercedes-Benz E Class does better. The A6 is a better all rounder, so unless you’re looking for a genuine sports car in the clothes of an executive car (the M5), those two options might be better for you.
3 Series, 5 Series, X3 & X5
It’s hard to go wrong with BMW’s bread and butter models, but beware the options list which is long, tempting, and expensive.
The X3
If you’re looking for a family luxury SUV, chances are you’re deciding between the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. Both are neck and neck at the top of their class, but one trim stands out for the BMW. If you want a sports car but have children (or stuff) to ferry around, the X3 M40i is a sneaky way to get 90% of the thrills in a supremely practical and beautifully built SUV. Deals are hard to come by, but the exhaust note more than makes up for it.
The X5
The X5 has just been fully redesigned, and it is stuffed with new technology, more efficient and powerful engines, and a handsome new look. As with most newly designed cars, the possibility of a discount is very slim, but this new entrant puts it above the aging Audi Q7 and just behind much more expensive Porsche Cayenne.
